Not sure if its just me. Every time I am adding a new source when I go to get addon the folder is empty. Tried a number of sources from various sites. Box came with number pre installed fusion etc.

You get addons from repositories not sources. So look inside a repo when you want to get addons. (fusion is a source, a repo will have a name like tknorris repository). So addons are stored in repositories. Repositories are found in sources like fusion, xunity, superepo and so on.
Further, make sure you install the repositories after linking to the source (which you will have done via file manager).
Settings - addons - install from zip.
Find the source in the left hand panel then click on it.
You should see a zip file in the right hand panel which contains the repos. Click on it to install.
Message should confirm successful install of repositories.

Thanks for the response. I don't think I explained my problem very well. After i input the source and get the zip file and install from zip I then go to get add on and the folder is empty. The usually just has very limited files in it for skin and not much more.
Hi try hovering over the repo click menu and see if you can force refresh it.
Then try going in, if still nothing go back and straight back in.
Not sure if it works on Kodi isengard...
