The official instructions may well state you need to format any drive you put in the T8-S, and if issues arise, this would be one of the first things we would suggest. However, I put in my 60Gb SSD (one partition) with data still in place and it worked fine.

Get used to remembering SDA1 as the label for your hard drive, if you use ES File Explorer you'll see it automatically appear in the Local menu on the left (click it to expand).

Before putting a drive in the T8-S, make sure it is a 2.5" sized drive. The type you find in laptops.

If you do end up going the route of not formatting your drive first, and you intend to use it for storing lots of or large files, consider copying them across with the drive physically in your PC/NAS, as copying hundreds of Gigabytes over a network will take a lot longer!

Google the apps and Kodi add-ons you normally use, to see if you can redirect any folder locations stored for download use. Check if workarounds exist for apps that don't natively support directory selection or downloading.

General tip (not T8-S specific), when you're bored and in Kodi (XBMC's new name), press the menu button (3 or 4 horizontal lines normally) on your remote, or the C key if you have a keyboard instead of pressing OK. A lot of entries will serve up a menu with options relating to the menu item you clicked on. You'll occasionally find cool features you'd not realized were present. Probably.
