@Smudje - Re flashing openELEC to your T8... you couldn't do this with DroidBOX's involvement. If you purchase was more than a year ago, and you don't mind taking a gamble, you could have a look for an S802 compatible openELEC build from a 3rd party. If the purchase was within 12 months, you're obviously still welcome to try, but the warranty wouldn't apply if something went wrong.

@ian maddox - openELEC= different operating system to Android. Streamlined Linux based distro that uses Kodi as the sole GUI. Short version is the menus can be a bit quicker, and in the future having less resources (CPU/GPU time&RAM used) used in openELEC means there could be a performance difference compared to Android, once 4K online content with higher bitrates come into play.

In both cases above, apologies for the delay with this response, I've not been around for quite a while, catching up with threads missed in the time I was away.

If the two devices were identical hardware wise (yours and the device the 3rd party firmware is intended for), yes. If the 3rd party has included apps that link to a drive connected to the internal SATA connection, that'd obviously not work as the original T8 doesn't have the bay and connectors.
