Help please advised to do a factory reset but it won't work

Hi first off I am an absolute novice at these so the simplist replies in total bimbo explanations would be appreciated

I bought a droidbox for xmas for my daughter and did the new xbmc update it changed to the new skin with Spider-Man etc but all the little add on icons are just jigsaw peices no skin or pics in them and absolutely nothing works when I click on it to play I did the clearing xbmc from the apps and reinstall using wizard but it's still the same I was advised on chat to do a factory reset but it won't work I just get the android robot thing icon with a spinning tummy then it just restarts there are no usb or sd cards in it just the power cable and the hdmi lead pleassseeee help my daughters driving me bonkers over it
