Hi everyone,
I cant understand why this has happened. Ive updated my box so its bang up to date and everything is running as it should. Ive always been able to turn the box on and off using the red remote button. Its now suddenly stopped working and I have to shut sown using the commands - shut down. Then when I want to turn it back on I have to press the button on the T8 Unit. Has anyone got any idea how and why this has happened and can someone help me get the remote function back running please?
I dont want to re-set or factory re-set as my box is running mint.

is the IR still working on the remote, a way to test it is use your mobile phone camera or any other camera you got. point the remote at the camera and see if you can see the red IR light.

Agreed on most of that @sblabs , but don't forget it will need to be a lens without an IR filter. Most likely to have success with front facing camera (selfie-camera) on phones, as manufacturers are less likely to put the filter there. Easy way to tell would be to test with a different button/infrared remote control first.
@Bollocks77 Just to double check, this is the infrared remote control (so not one with a QWERTY keyboard/touchpad/air mouse function)?

Thank you both for replying. The remote is working as normal when the unit is on I can navigate no problem. This remote is the one without the keyboard/touchpad etc.

Can you try what was suggested, but specifically test the power button and whether this makes the LED flash still. If it doesn't could you check a different button on the remote allows you to see the IR LED flashing (so we know it isn't a false negative on the power button).

Hi ChrisM - just checked it all and the IR is working (flashing) spot on. Im confused with this mate as Ive never had any problems. I know its not a big problem and I can always get off my lazy A@@e and switch it on but its just bugging me now.

Yipppeeeee!!!! its working spot on!!. I read somewhere that after updates or problems with remotes, start the box via the front button and then shut it down by the front button. I did this and amazingly its all good again. Back to the chair I go!!!

It worked a treat. I turned it on and off with the front button. Then the remote worked perfect. Hope this helps others.
