Not sure which build you have but it might be worth trying another build. The one you have does look pretty confusing. I use pulse from the ares wizard but Sean's build is pretty popular on here. You just need to wipe off the one you have and load a different one.

I actually like the clock and would like an option to leave the clock display on even when the box is off, but I am considering covering the blue and red LED it is way to bright.

I think it comes down to the definition of internal drive. If I buy an external drive and put it in a box does it become an internal drive? I would say no it's an external drive in a box.
