Hi Guys,

I am having problems putting the droidox into Standby mode. There are a few problems, so please bear with me.

Issue 1 - If I click the Red shutdown button on the remote, the option to Standby/Reboot is displayed. If I then select the Standby option the options disappear and the box remains active.

The Reboot option works fine.
I have also turned the remote over so that the airmouse does not trigger a signal to "reactivate" the box.

Issue 2 - It also seems that pressing the Blue on off button on the box itself is having no affect whatsover, which may or may not be linked?

Issue 3 - Finally if I move focus away from the hdmi channel used by the droidbox when I return the homepage is displayed... but then goes blank... then returns... then blank... this continues untiol I reboot the box.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Are there any other USB devices connected to your X7? It could be that one of them is preventing standby from occurring. I've got one USB gamepad and one hard drive that refuse to go to sleep themselves, and somehow wake up my X7 if I leave them connected. (Good catch with flipping the VIP remote over btw).

Can you vist the Tweaking Apps thread and install the Quick Boot (Reboot) app I described there?

Re issue 2, can you check what is printed on the label or case itself, under your X7? With my device and whichever firmware is on there, the button works - it sends the device straights into standby. When you press the button, it definitely doesn't work in the same way as selecting Standby from the power menu?

Issue 3 - My X7 is fine, but if I use my iMX6 with an HDMI switch, there are problems if I switch away from the iMX6's HDMI input for too long. If you are currently using an HDMI switch, and it doesn't have its power supply (the switch) connected, please try using it. If you're connecting directly to your TV, does it make any difference which HDMI socket on your TV that you use?

Many Thanks for such a quick response.

Issue 1 - The Only device connected to the box is the remote keypad/air mouse supplied with the unit. I will check out the Tweaking Apps thread when I get home.

Issue 2 - Again I will have to check later.

Issue 3 - I am not using a switch box per se, but the feed does go from the box into an HDMI port on my blu-ray surround system along with my Tivo box into a separate HDMI port... I select which to send to the TV panel (Always HDMI 1) via the bluray remote. Either port has the same problem - Tivo side always ok, droidbox always not.

Cheers

On my x7 I don't use the red standby button on the remote, I use the cursor to highlight the Xbmc shutdown button at the bottom left of the screen then select exit. Be careful not to select android shut down which is under that. This should should take you back to android home. From there shut the box down with the android standby button at the bottom of the screen till screen says no signal ( at least mine does but yours may just revert to next signal.) The button on the box only turns it on but not off. If you don't shutdown properly it won't boot properly, mine does a first run on bootup but still has my settings if I force close.
Hope that makes sense but that's how mine works.

Hi Guys,

Here's an update on my original issues.

Issue 1 - Now resolved, the Quick boot app works very well (Thanks Silently Screaming). It powers off the box perfectly.
Graham - I'm not in XBMC when attempting the close, if I click the power off icon on the home page that doesn't power down the box, but causes my dreaded slow screen flash (only cured by a reboot).

Issue 2 - The label under the box states Model: B351B_BT along with a serial number. The button now appears to be working (sort of), If the box is on, with the home page in focus and I click the button it turns from Blue to Red and the unit goes into standby. Clicking the button again causes the button to turn back to blue and the home page is re-displayed... All good except that I get the Slow screen flash again! Sorted by a re-boot.

Issue 3 - Outstanding - I need to buy a longer hdmi cable (A-C) to bypass the bluray/surround system, but it looks like the flashing screen problem is related to re-starting the box as much as changing inputs?

ADDITIONAL point of interest: After using the Quick boot App to shutdown I need to physically turn the box back on by the button which is fair enough. However when the box starts up I get the same problem as issue 3! On... then blank screen... on... then blank screen, the only way to fix this is to do a box reboot (off the red button)... odd?
So to summarise... I can now get the box to power off, but I cannot use the box until I turn it on... get to the home page and then re-boot...

All answers welcomed!

When I click the button on bottom left of android home screen I get another box centre of screen saying box will shut down and I have to click ok. I am wondering if you don't get this is android not shutting down, when I turn the box back on I get a white circle which a blue moving x and if android hasn't shut down properly the moving x is causing the home screen to fade in and out. Ignore this if you are getting the bootup white circle with the blue cross. I am not a tech but this is how my x7 boots up and shuts down and maybe the comparison will help.

Different versions of the X7 come with different firmwares, tailored to the slightly different chips found inside (like the WiFi chip for example). Different firmwares handle shutdown/standby requests in different ways, hence (most likely) Leggsy not seeing the same as you Graham.
Leggsy, yes that behaviour is odd, and not how I've seen other devices behave (but I don't have a B351B_BT variant. Can you e-mail us ( [email protected] ) with your original eBay/Amazon order ID (a very long set of numbers) and your account name with eBay/Amazon. Please also include a link to this post - http://www.droidboxforums.com/posts/890 , and mention SilentlyScreaming asked for you to do so.

Thanks Graham/Silently Screaming,

Graham - My box closes/opens in a completely different manner. For example when I click the Power off icon/button I also get a dialog box displayed. It has two options - One to power off the other to re-boot. Clicking power off has no affect, whereas re-boot normally works perfectly (Can on occasion take a couple of goes) shutsdowns and then displays the four colour discs until the home page is re-dsipalyed.

Silently Screaming - I purchased my box directly from the droidbox site. When I get home this evening I will check the invoice for numbers and send the email as requested.

Thanks for your assistance guys.

Hi Silently Screaming,

I have not had a response from the support team to my email (sent on Friday last week), what sort of turn around time should I expect?

As an update when I turn the box on (click the "blue" button the unit immediately goes into the "on" and "off" cycle as reported... It can now take multiple re-boots to rectify the problem - Once its settles the box is performing pretty well!

I've just double checked, the reply was sent 4 hours and 42 minutes after your e-mail arrived (our ref RM 51739).
I've asked the member of staff to re-send and modify their e-mail with some extra information, and send you a PM confirming this has been done, via this forum.
In terms of the original reply, it might be worth checking your spam folder.
The new reply summary is that if a firmware flash doesn't help, we'll repair/replace the device as needed. Hoepfully we'll get this sorted ASAP.

I have the same issue with my X7 not shutting down. Have found this app as you advised but it says root access to my phone is required.
Do I just ignore that and download.
Thanks
